Baikonur. A Soyuz spacecraft with two Russian cosmonauts and a US astronaut on board launched to the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday. The launch of the carrier rocket from the Russian spaceport Baikonur in Kazakhstan was broadcast live by Russia’s space agency Roscosmos. “The flight is proceeding normally,” said the Roscosmos commentator. The launch took place at around 6:23 p.m. (CEST).

On board the spacecraft are the Russian cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin and Ivan Wagner as well as the US astronaut Donald Pettit. Space travel is one of the few areas in which the USA and Russia still work together despite the war in Ukraine. (AFP/jW)
