Apple Watch Series 10: Reduction of wind noise during phone calls

Apple has added various new features to the Apple Watch Series 10. Among other things, audio playback via speakers has been optimized and voice isolation for calls has been introduced.

Audio can be played through the built-in speaker on Apple Watch Series 10. Just like calls, users can now play audio from a range of apps directly on their Apple Watch – including Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and Apple Books, or third-party apps.

Apple Watch Series 10 also uses a new voice isolation neural network running on the 4-core Neural Engine to suppress background noise during phone calls or FaceTime audio calls, so users’ voices sound clear and distinct on the other end—even in noisy environments like a crowded restaurant, street noise, or outside on a windy day.

Apple Watch 9 or older models do not have such a function. The Apple Watch Ultra at least has the ability to suppress wind noise. Previous iPhone models already have voice isolation for phone calls. All four iPhone 16 models can reduce wind noise thanks to machine learning algorithms, thus ensuring better audio quality during phone calls.
