Knife attacker from Weißwasser in custody after 24 hours

A 34-year-old man was sentenced to seven months in prison on Monday in Weißwasser (Görlitz district). Less than 24 hours earlier, the man had attacked a 29-year-old man and his 2-year-old daughter with a knife after a verbal argument, police have just announced.

According to police reports, the man, who already has a previous conviction for weapons offenses, approached the 29-year-old and his daughter on the Straße des Friedens on Sunday. After an argument, they separated. But the convicted man later approached the man again and attacked him, it was reported. The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries, the child was unharmed.

Shortly after the crime, the officers arrested the drunk and intoxicated suspect. On Monday afternoon, he was sentenced in an expedited procedure at the Weißwasser District Court, the police said. However, the verdict is not yet legally binding.
