“If he fails, he fails gloriously”: Andrea Petkovic gives reasons for Alcaraz’s popularity to Sinner

Former WTA tennis star Andrea Petkovic admits there’s a reason people root for Carlos Alcaraz more than Jannik Sinner, and that’s because his lows are so low.

Petkovic believes that Alcaraz’s skills and performances on the court are enough to get any crowd excited about his tennis and that Sinner is more boring when he is not at his best. However, Petkovic believes that Sinner is the more spectacular player when he is at 100% form.

“Why people come to Carlos more. When Jannik doesn’t play well, like in the first week, he immediately becomes boring. Because he just plays solidly and the other one misses at some point, then it’s boring. But when he plays well, he’s the most spectacular player in the world,” Petkovic said on the Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast.

“And Carlos, when he fails, he still fails gloriously, and I think that’s why people… the chaos is interesting to watch. I think that’s the difference between the two.”
