Varel/Hohenkirchen – On the last match day of the summer tennis season, there were still some promotion and relegation decisions with Frisian participation.

Men: National League

Spvg Haste II – TV Varel 0:6. Thanks to their safe victory in the basement duel against the bottom team, the first men’s team from Varel managed to score their first win of the season – although relegation was already certain for both teams. Only number one Alexander Krafft had to go over three sets in the singles (6:3, 4:6, 10:7) as did the doubles Krafft/Lukas Cremers (4:6, 6:0, 10:5). One singles match and the second doubles match went to the Varel team without a fight due to a lack of opponents.

Men 60: Regional League

MTV Hohenkirchen – Auricher TC II 3:3. The veterans from Wangerland made things more exciting than they intended on their way to winning the title. In the first two singles matches, Harald Fischer (4:6, 4:6) and Reiner Meints (1:6, 7:6, 10:12) did not live up to their status as favorites. But team captain Robert Meints (6:1, 6:3) and Helmut Petermann (6:2, 6:2) then equalized.

However, the second MTV doubles team Fischer/Petermann lost 6:3, 0:6 and 10:12, so that the decision had to be made in the first doubles in front of many spectators. Robert Meints/Alexander Scholz kept their nerve and won 6:3, 2:6, 10:2, while also making the title coup perfect. “We finished the season undefeated and were promoted to the district league, just like our ladies 30 a month ago,” said a delighted Robert Meints Diebisch.
