FC Bayern Munich has a new international player. Adam Aznou made his debut for Morocco on Monday and made a lasting impression.

Munich – Adam Aznou has made his debut for the Moroccan national football team. The FC Bayern youngster will be in the starting eleven on Monday in the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations against Lesotho and played the full game. After the match, which the 2022 World Cup semi-finalist won 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz (90th + 3), Aznou received the “Man of the Match” award. He is still waiting for his first professional appearance at FC Bayern.

Aznou was called up to the Moroccan national team for the first time during the international break. On Friday he spent 90 minutes on the bench in the 4-1 win against Gabon. The left-back started against Lesotho and even had a chance to take the lead after a strong dribble in the 14th minute. According to the statistics portal Sofascore, Aznou won 21 of 27 tackles against Lesotho and had a pass success rate of 92 percent. With an overall rating of 8.7, Aznou had the best Sofascore rating of all 30 players used.

With his strong performance, Aznou applied for further appearances in the national team. At FC Bayern Munich, however, Aznou is still waiting for his professional debut. During the pre-season, he was part of Vincent Kompany’s extended squad, but in the current season he has only played for the second team in the Regionalliga Bayern (four games).

Davies’ legacy? Aznou submits application for Kompany

Aznou, who was trained in the youth team of FC Barcelona, has a contract with the German record champions until 2027 and is likely to be the successor to Alponso Davies, whose contract expires in the summer of 2025. With performances like the one against Lesotho, Aznou could take up his legacy sooner rather than later.
