8 Kerala policemen transferred after Left MP PV Anwar accused them of criminal activities – Kerala News

Malappuram Police Commissioner (SP) S. Sasidharan and seven of his deputies have been transferred in a major cabinet reshuffle within the Kerala Police Department following allegations by Left Democratic Front (LDF) MP PV Anwar against the state’s top police officers.

PV Anwar represents Nilambur constituency in Malappuram and has made serious allegations against Deputy Director General of Police (ADGP) Ajith Kumar and former SP Sujith Das, accusing them of being involved in criminal activities.

The police controversy began when Anwar took to the stage to criticise the current Malappuram SP Sasidharan.

SP Sasidharan has been transferred and posted as SP, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ernakulam Range, while Viswanadh R, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Personnel), will be the new Police Commissioner, Malappuram district.

Also, CH Nagaraju (IPS) will replace A Akbar as the new Transport Commissioner. A Akbar, on the other hand, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Crimes-II, Ernakulam.

Meanwhile, Kochi City Police Commissioner S. Syamsundar was transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, South Zone, while Putta Vimaladitya was posted as Deputy Inspector General and Commissioner of Police, Kochi City.

The transfers came in the wake of MP Anwar’s allegations that Ajith Kumar, the Attorney General’s Director General for Law and Order, was involved in criminal activities, including gold smuggling, wiretapping of ministers’ and politicians’ phones, and murders.

He also leaked some telephone conversations that former Malappuram SP Sujith Das had with him, exposing an alleged criminal nexus.

Sujith Das, IPS, was subsequently suspended. An inquiry team headed by the DGP was formed to look into the allegations against ADGP Kumar and others.

However, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is also the Home Minister, is being criticised by the opposition for not taking action against ADGP Law and Order Ajith Kumar.
