ASV Neumarkt is looking for district tennis champions

ASV Neumarkt is looking for district tennis champions

The ASV Neumarkt is hosting the Volvo Cup from Friday to Sunday for the second time in a row. This open district tennis championship was once a sure-fire success, as Walter Otto from the ASV says. The Corona pandemic brought an unwanted break. Now attempts are being made to re-establish the tournament in the long term.

On Friday at around 4 p.m. the men’s competition with 18 participants starts on the tennis courts at Mooswiese. When asked about the favorites, Walter Otto names Jochen Bauer (SV Oberferrieden), Thorsten Beck (SV Höhenberg) and Igor Malakov (ASV Neumarkt).

In the women’s category, the ASV is sending a favorite, Franziska Lerzer, into the starting field of eight women. The tennis players will pick up their rackets from 10 a.m. on Saturday. The youth categories U10, U12 and U14 will increase the starting field to a total of 40 participants.

All finals will take place on Sunday at the same time from 1 p.m. The best participants from each district can then call themselves district champions.
