Seven stolen tricycles seized, police arrest five suspects

According to the Bauchi State Police, five persons were arrested for allegedly participating in a criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen goods.

This was announced on Tuesday during a press conference by Ahmed Wakil, the police spokesman, on behalf of the state police commissioner Auwal Mohammed.

Wakil added that one of the suspects arrested was a woman who was accused of procuring stolen tricycles from Kano State and then selling them in Bauchi State.

The statement reads: “Maryam Ibrahim alias Ummi ‘f’, 30 years old, Adamu Sale alias Brother, ‘m’, 30 years old, Umar Ibrahim alias Baba Luti, 31 years old, Nasiru Usman, ‘m’, 29 years old, Nasiru.” Musa Umar alias Nass ‘m’ aged 27 years.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that she sold about seven stolen tricycles in Bauchi.

“This successful operation was made possible by credible intelligence information on suspicious activities and the hard work of the Bauchi State Police Intelligence Agency.”

Wakil revealed that the recovered exhibits include seven tricycles, also known as Keke Napep.

He reiterated that “receiving stolen goods is a serious offence under Section 427 of the Nigerian Penal Code and carries serious consequences.”

He stated that anyone convicted of the crime could face a 14-year prison sentence.

The PPRO appreciated the help and cooperation of the community in providing important information that led to the arrest of the above-mentioned criminals.
