Karlsruher SC awaits FC Schalke 04 for the traditional duel on Friday evening

In the heart of Baden lies a football club that is known far beyond the city’s borders: the Karlsruher Sport-Club Mühlburg-Phönix, or KSC for short. The club was founded on June 6, 1894, and the club’s colors are blue and white. The heart of the KSC is the BBBank Wildpark stadium, which has space for 34,302 fans.

Karlsruher SC has had a number of sporting successes. In addition to winning the UI Cup, KSC counts a championship title as one of its greatest successes. The club has won the 2nd Bundesliga championship three times and triumphed once in the 3rd League. KSC has also left its mark in the DFB Cup, winning this prestigious competition twice. KSC has also dominated the regional football scene, securing three championships in the Oberliga Süd and one championship each in the Regionalliga Süd. The Baden Cup has also gone to the proud club from Karlsruhe once.

2. Bundesliga: Schalke challenged in Karlsruhe

Gelsenkirchen, a city deep in the heart of the Ruhr region, is home to FC Schalke 04. Founded on May 4, 1904, the club has become deeply embedded in the local culture with its traditional blue and white colors. The Knappen, as they are affectionately called by their supporters, are one of the most popular football clubs in Germany with around 180,000 members. The Veltins Arena, the home of FC Schalke 04, has space for 62,271 spectators. Located in Gelsenkirchen, it serves not only as a venue for thrilling football matches, but also for large events and concerts.

Schalke can look back on a rich collection of trophies. The club has won the German championship seven times and the 2nd Bundesliga championship three times. There have also been five wins in the DFB Cup and one triumph in the German Supercup. At international level, the Knappen have won the coveted UEFA Cup once and the UI Cup twice. In addition to national and international successes, Schalke has also excelled in regional competitions. The club has won the West German championship in the Oberliga West twice and has won the German League Cup once.
