… the game: “Overall, it was very entertaining. Both teams were vulnerable defensively and so there were many chances on both sides. We were stronger offensively, although Holland sometimes simply overplayed that. After conceding an early goal, you first have to come back with two goals away from home. The team believes in itself. We gave it our all. That’s what we want to see. That’s what the fans want to see.”

… the performance of the referee: “He didn’t whistle well on either side. That would have been a decent situation for us in the end. But it is what it is. By the way, I also think it was a clear penalty for Jamal (Musiala).”

Joshua Kimmich: “I was generally upset that we didn’t win the game.” It was a duel at a very high level. It was annoying that we fell behind so early. All in all, I thought the first half was very good, the second was OK. A goal is always special for me. In general, I’m not a fan of the new system that only allows one player to talk to the referee. I wish the referees weren’t quite so reasonable. It’s not always something personal against the referee.”

Jamal Musiala: “Both teams had their chances. It’s a process. We have to get better from game to game and learn a lot. I also lost the ball a few times, but overall we can take a lot of positives with us. The mood in the team is really good and it’s fun here. I don’t want to talk too much about the referee, but there were a few situations that were called against us.”

After the famous start to the Nations League with the 5-0 victory against Hungary, the national football team is now facing the next tough test in the UEFA competition.
