After scoring his first competitive goal for the German national team, Aleksandar Pavlovic has finally arrived in national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team. After his strong performance against Hungary this evening (8:45 p.m., live on RTL), the 20-year-old can now even look forward to a place in the starting eleven against the Netherlands.

Munich – Aleksandar Pavlovic has developed rapidly in recent months. After the 20-year-old became a regular player at FC Bayern last season under former coach Thomas Tuchel, the midfielder’s start in the national team has also been a textbook success.

When the DFB team faces the Netherlands in the Nations League this evening (8:45 p.m.), the 20-year-old could possibly even make his debut in the starting eleven: “It could be that Pavlo starts.” But we’ll first look at the training and the final game. “Then we’ll decide in the course of the evening,” explained national coach Julian Nagelsmann at the pre-match press conference, thus holding out the prospect of a place in the starting eleven for the Bayern star.

Pavlovic as Kroos’ successor?

At the start of the Nations League against Hungary, Pavlovic impressed with his first goal for the national team and recommended himself for higher tasks. After Robert Andrich and Pascal Groß started in the central midfield in the 5-0 win, the 20-year-old’s time may now have finally come.

Not least due to the retirement of midfield legend Toni Kroos, Nagelsmann is still looking for a long-term successor for the 2014 world champion. Pavlovic, who has recently shone in international comparison due to his excellent passing statistics, could represent a suitable replacement in many ways.
