Oldenburg – Their vests are still as white as the writing on their green jerseys – so pure white that the flag football talents of the Oldenburg Knights have already won the Association League championship and the associated ticket for the North German championships two games before the end of the regular season. Seven weeks before the season highlight in their home Marschweg Stadium, the young knights have perfected their qualification with a 70:0 win against the Emden Tigers juniors.

“It will be a very special event for the children,” says Esther Beckmann, whose twins are active in the team, about the title duel between the Hildesheim Invaders and the Hamburg Pioneers on October 26th (Saturday, 11 a.m., admission free).

Oldenburg (green jerseys, here in the first leg) won in Lübeck.

The Oldenburg selection, which can no longer be pushed from the top with 20:0 points, got a taste of what’s to come one and a half weeks ago against the Ritterhude Badgers. “Everything was so impressively big,” says Beckmann, looking back on the 51:14, in which the talents were not deterred from their path by the crowd.

Things also went smoothly against Emden for the team coached by Felix Marterer and David Cordes. Two more victories against the Bremen Red Kites and the Badgers are to follow before the North German Championships – and of course the vest should remain as white as the writing on the green jerseys at the title fights.

In the pincers: Isaiah Grice (middle, No. 16), here in the abandoned game in Cottbus against Vin Deacon Schöne (white jersey, left) and Robbie Williamson (right), played a key role in the Knights scoring their first breakthrough in Lübeck.
