Adam Valli from Beckton jailed for shooting friend in Essex

Adam Valli, of Derifall Close, was jailed at Basildon Crown Court on 9 September.

It follows an investigation into a shooting in Shoeburyness, Essex, in May 2023.

On the day of the incident, officers were called to Frobisher Way shortly after 2 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing a man being shot.

A 26-year-old man was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to the leg and taken to hospital.

He said: “The pain I am experiencing from this injury is a constant reminder of what happened that night.”

On the night of the attempted murder, Valli had been at an event in London with his victim. Essex Police said the two had been friends for years.

According to police, the men argued over a ride home and continued their argument by phone and text message.

They faced each other again when 23-year-old Valli cut in front of the victim’s car on the A127 and shouted at him to get in.

While the two men were sitting in the car, Valli pulled out a gun and threatened to take the victim out of his mother’s house and shoot him.

The couple got out of the car in Frobisher Way while Valli continued to hold the gun to the victim’s head.

He then shot the 26-year-old in the leg.

To change his appearance, Valli shaved off his hair and beard before his arrest.

The shooting victim has since undergone four operations.

The 26-year-old said: “The feelings I have had since leaving hospital have gotten worse over time.

“I also constantly blame myself for everything that led up to this incident. I am ashamed because I caused so much pain to my family during this time and that is why I did not spend much time with them.

“I have noticed significant changes in my family’s life due to my injury and mental state. I feel like everyone’s life revolves around me and that makes me feel guilty.”

According to Essex Police, the victim is “lucky to be alive”.

Det Insp Yoni Adler said: “The manner in which Valli threatened and tormented the victim before shooting him was vicious.

“Valli was someone the victim had known and trusted for years.

“There is no doubt that Valli is a dangerous person and the work of our officers got him off the streets.”
