Bleak Hill Primary School celebrates Ofsted inspection results

Bleak Hill Primary School in Windle has been rated outstanding in all categories by the Education Inspectorate.

Hamilton Road School received top marks in the areas of educational quality, behaviour and attitude, personal development, leadership and management and early childhood education.

This results in the school being rated as “Outstanding” overall.

In a letter to the school, Sir Martyn Oliver, His Majesty’s Chief Inspector, wrote: “I would like to congratulate you (the headteacher) and your team on your exceptional work.”

Among the inspectors’ findings: “Pupils thrive in the caring environment of this happy school.”

“They really enjoy learning and place great value on their education.”

It goes on to say: “Pupils work persistently and resiliently to achieve the ambitious goals the school sets for them” and “they achieve outstanding results.”

Inspectors also said: “Pupils build incredibly positive relationships with each other and with staff. Pupils behave in exemplary fashion in lessons and at social events.”

Bleak Hill Primary School said: “This is an absolutely amazing achievement for the whole school and shows that all the work the school and our families do together has been recognised.”

“The entire school community is so proud of this result.”

Ofsted’s findings on the school were published in June following an inspection in April.

It was recently announced that the monosyllabic Ofsted assessments for state schools will be abolished with immediate effect and replaced by report cards designed to improve standards and help parents better understand schools’ strengths and weaknesses.
