The one-hour show is produced by Lorne Michael.

CBS announces the first primetime special starring comedian Nate Bargatze. This one-hour holiday-themed variety show will be executive produced by Lorne Michaels and his company Broadway Video and will air on the CBS Television Network in December 2024. The title, air date and time of the special will be announced at a later date.

“I’m really excited to be producing this special because I’ve been a huge fan of variety shows for a long time, and there’s never enough of it!” “I want to make a great show where the whole family can gather and watch together, and I couldn’t put myself in better hands than this team,” said Bargatze.

The holiday telecast was taped on November 21 at the legendary Grand Ole Opry and will be hosted by Bargatze, who will serve as master of ceremonies leading the audience through a mix of stand-up comedy, pre-taped comedy shorts, skits and musical performances. The show will highlight the heart and spirit of Nashville during the holiday season, highlighting family, fun and feel-good moments that will resonate with audiences of all ages. This marks Bargatze’s return to the Grand Ole Opry, where his journey into comedy began as an entry-level staff member.

Bargatze will work with “Saturday Night Live’s” Mikey Day and co-writer Streeter Seidell, who previously teamed with Bargatze when he hosted “SNL” last season with the wildly popular sketch “Washington’s Dream.” The variety special will be executive produced by Lorne Michaels, Nate Bargatze, Erin David and Andrew Singer of Broadway Video, and Tim Sarkes and Alex Murray of Brillstein Entertainment.
