Release Candidate is here! iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 and watchOS 11 are ready | News

Apple has distributed eight beta versions since the World Wide Developers Conference in June, and this time the testing phase had a special feature. The large number of new features was not surprising for the upcoming major releases, as Cupertino will only tackle the really big topic, including Apple Intelligence, with the next update (iOS 18.1, macOS 15.1).

The release candidates for the September updates are now available. iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, tvOS 15 and watchOS 11 are now at a stage where they could be released onto the market unchanged – unless problems arise at the last minute that still need to be resolved urgently.

This evening, Apple announced that iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 and watchOS will be released on September 16th at 11am (Monday in a week). For years, this update evening has preceded the launch of a new iPhone generation and is therefore quite predictable.

Important new features include the cross-platform password app, topographical maps in Apple Maps, a new version of Safari and presentation functions such as the “What am I sharing with others” view before video conferences or replacing the background. The updated Game Porting Toolkit is included for developers. As mentioned, you still have to wait for Apple Intelligence – which applies both to non-US English-speaking countries and especially to the countries of the European Union.

The current beta versions
Although Apple is currently running two parallel beta phases, namely iOS 18 & macOS 15 and iOS 18.1 & macOS 15.1 including Apple Intelligence, only the builds of the major releases updated today are listed below. The build number indicates that the beta phase is complete, as there is no longer a letter in the last position.
