It’s time to start thinking about the perfect outfit for Oktoberfest. There are some surprises in this year’s trends.

Munich – The anticipation for the Oktoberfest is growing and now is the best time to take a look in your closet and pick out your traditional costume. Do your Lederhosen and Dirndl still fit? If it’s a bit tight or you just don’t like it anymore, there’s still enough time to get a new outfit. And this year, there are once again some outstanding trends in fabrics, cuts and colors.

First men’s traditional costume collection in the Oktoberfest pop-up store

Sibilla Kawala is the founder of the online traditional costume shop Limberry and is therefore an absolute expert. From August 8th to September 28th, she and her team are running a pop-up store in Munich’s Westend. “People are in full traditional costume mode,” says Kawala, “many items sell out quickly, but we regularly receive new deliveries.” For the first time this year, there is also a men’s collection with leather trousers, shirts, vests, jackets and shoes. Incidentally, the classic white shirt is still the absolute bestseller for men, says Kawala. Combined with simple or more eye-catching vests, every male Wiesn visitor is well dressed.

Limberry is actually just an online shop. This is the second time that the pop-up store has opened. Dirndls cost from 599 euros upwards, blouses start at 99 euros. The special thing about Limberry dirndls: two aprons in different looks are always included in the outfit. You pay from 449 euros upwards for a pair of leather trousers, and the matching shirt is available from 89 euros.

From velvet to corduroy to cap sleeves: This is what’s hot in 2024

There is more variety in dirndls. While corduroy dirndls are experiencing a resurgence in 2024, velvet dirndls will also remain on trend. In terms of colors, Sibilla Kawala recommends everything from the sage-colored palette. A particular highlight this year are dirndls with puff sleeves. “No matter how big the puff on the sleeve is, it is super popular and everyone is styled correctly,” emphasizes Kawala. No blouse is needed for such a dirndl.

But anyone who still likes to wear blouses will be surprised. There is a new development here: while last year it was mainly long-sleeved blouses that were on the rise, this year’s trend is towards more playful blouses with cap sleeves. The expert says: “Whether made of cotton, lace or colored, you definitely can’t go wrong with them this year.”
