Chris Christie has advice for Kamala Harris ahead of the debate

Chris Christie predicted that Kamala Harris’s behavior in Tuesday’s debate will be “far more important” than what Donald Trump achieves with his improvisational approach.

“You’ve seen this show before. It’s the one that’s going to get the most attention,” the former New Jersey governor said during an appearance on ABC News’ “This Week.”

Christie, who helped Trump prepare for debates in 2016 and 2020 before becoming a frequent critic himself, said he would write “just two words” on a notepad for Harris when she entered the room to face the former president.

“Charm and disarm,” he told host Jonathan Karl. “That’s all.”

Christie said the vice president must look into the camera and “charm” Americans by showing them that she will not be Trump’s “24-hour leaf-blower noise.”

“She has to show them that there is another way to lead. There is a way to be kind, smart and tough at the same time. That’s the appeal,” he said.

Christie advised the vice president not to respond to Trump’s attacks.

He referred to her recent interview with CNN, in which Dana Bash asked her about the Republican candidate’s comments that Harris had “turned black.”

“And she did what is hard for candidates to do. She paused for two or three seconds, shook her head and said, ‘The old script, next question,'” Christie explained.

He continued: “This will get on his nerves. If she refuses to engage in this back and forth that Hillary [Clinton] failed miserably because she wasn’t good at it and committed. Don’t get involved. It will increase his reputation. You want to diminish his reputation by treating him dismissively.”
