The transformation and its secrecy were planned long in advance. The 32-year-old “strategically pre-recorded” videos that he was able to post over the course of two years. He further explains: “I edited the videos so that they look current.”

He also did everything he could to ensure that his plans were not exposed: “I shaved my head so that people wouldn’t recognize me in public. A handful of other YouTubers also helped me keep my secret.”

Nikocado Avocado appears with a giant panda mask at the beginning of his revealing video, which is titled “Two Steps Ahead”.
