Iserlohn: Gang rape of 30-year-old refugee – State security investigates

The police have not ruled out a political background to the gang rape of a man in Iserlohn in the Sauerland region. At around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, witnesses are said to have heard screams coming from a building, police and prosecutors reported. Officers found an injured 30-year-old man there. He was taken to hospital.

“He is a refugee from Iran,” said prosecutor Michael Burggräf. With the help of a police helicopter, four suspects aged 24, 34, 42 and 46 were tracked down in an adjacent forest and arrested. Two suspects are still at large.

Since a political background cannot be ruled out, state security has taken over the investigation. The authorities have not disclosed what the political background might be.

The prosecutor confirmed that a gang rape took place in the former brewery building. There is no evidence so far that the four suspects arrested belong to the right-wing scene.
