Winter sports legends tee off in St. Oswald for a good cause

ST. OSWALD. Winter sports legends and entrepreneurs tee off side by side in St. Oswald for a good cause. The Start Up Sport charity golf tournament brings in 25,000 euros for Upper Austrian sports talents.

At the invitation of the former ÖSV Alpine Director for Men, Hans Pum, numerous sporting greats of the past – including an Olympic champion, Toni Innauer – are putting themselves at the service of a good cause at the fourth edition of the “Start Up Sport” golf tournament at the Mühlviertel St. Oswald Golf Club. Upper Austria’s heroes of tomorrow will benefit from the tee shots of the aces of the past, because the net proceeds of 25,000 euros will support talented athletes on their way to the top.

“A big thank you to all the companies who have proven themselves to be strong partners of our talents, not just today in St. Oswald, but all year round as members of the Start Up Sport network.” After the successful premiere of the Charity Gourmet Evening in June – Upper Austria’s top chefs cooked up a storm in the Olympic Center – our traditional event in the countryside was once again well received. With 21 participating flights, there were more this year than ever before,” said Start Up Sport President Johannes Artmayr, Managing Director of Strasser Steine, and Vice President and tournament organizer Hans Pum, delighted with the successful day of golf in the middle of the Mühlviertel idyll.

Flo Brungraber as surprise guest

While winter sports legends such as Olympic and World Championship medalists Toni Innauer, Hans Enn and Jimmy Steiner or eight-time skibob world champion Walter Kroneisl showed off their skills on the 18-hole course, top athletes and current start-up sports talents such as ÖSV B-squad runner Maria Niederndorfer or athlete Julius Rudorfer supported the golfers from the spectator’s perspective. Upper Austria’s top golf talent Florian Schweighofer was also at the side of the flights on the last tee this year. A surprise guest received special applause: Para-triathlete Florian Brungraber, freshly crowned silver medalist at the Paralympics, paid a visit to the charity golf tournament on the day of his return from Paris and gave exciting impressions of the competition at the major sporting event.

Start Up Sports Network

“The Start Up Sport network currently comprises around 80 companies from various industries and in different partnership categories. “We are always happy to welcome new members so that we can support even more young athletes at the start of their careers,” confirms Start Up Sport President Johannes Artmayr. “When active and former sports aces join forces with our successful entrepreneurs, our talents benefit.” “All of the net proceeds will go to those young athletes from Upper Austria who are on the verge of becoming world elite in their respective sports,” says Hans Pum, who has been tirelessly promoting a top-class golf tournament at his home club in recent weeks, laying the foundation for another successful Start Up Sport event. The next dates for Start Up Sport: General Assembly on September 18th; Start Up Sport Punch Reception on December 2nd (both at the Olympic Center Upper Austria).
