Geisingen: Geisingen ahead after five disciplines

Geisingen/Baar – The first community duel in Geisingen had its premiere on the Baar. Athletes from five communities competed against each other in five disciplines, or rather, some only in four disciplines. Unfortunately, Blumberg and Immendingen were unable to put together a football team.

There was a lot going on at Geisinger Espen on Sunday. The event was conceived and implemented as part of the 50th anniversary year of the Geisingen region. The Danuterra recreational area, including the arena, was ideal for this. Before the respective competitions, Mayor Martin Numberger briefly explained the reason for the event and thanked the participating communities for their willingness to take part.

In addition to the town of Geisingen, these are the municipality of Immendingen and the towns of Hüfingen, Blumberg and Bad Dürrheim. The construction of the individual stands for the clubs to provide food and drink for visitors began on Sunday morning. In addition, employees from the building yard and the kindergartens were busy building the giant bouncy castle and the play street for the children. There was a lot on offer not only for the adults, but also for the children.

The anxious question was whether the weather would hold or not. The temperatures were pleasant for such an event, but unfortunately the relay race was not completely dry. In the afternoon it did start to rain. But only briefly and the arena offered enough space for the award ceremony and the sound of the event.

At the play street, the children were given a game card and then moved on to the individual stations. Those who successfully participated received a T-shirt with the city’s anniversary logo at the end.

It was also planned as a closing party for the children’s holiday program. The organizers and participants in the sports competitions also received a T-shirt. Some of the participating communities were no less impressive, their athletes also had T-shirts with the logo or name of the respective city.

The tennis players started on the tennis court. At TC Geisingen there was also coffee and cake in the clubhouse. Then one competition after another began, tennis was followed by beach volleyball, then the boules players. The beach volleyball tournament was held on the arena court. The boules players took the longest to complete the competition. They didn’t let themselves be carried away and played the party in peace. But everything stayed within the calculated time frame, and the football tournament was over sooner than planned because there were only three teams. The organizers from Blumberg and Immendingen couldn’t find any football players, so the chances of winning the challenge cup were slim.

The last sporting competition was the relay race on the 460-meter-long course around the Espenweiher, where each of the five runners had to belong to a different age group. Those over 50 started and those under 20 were the last runners. The Geisingen fire brigade, the sports club and the Asante Sana Tanzania club also had refreshment stands. A few young people also sold waffles. The participating athletes and visitors, including Mayor Jonathan Berggötz from Bad Dürrheim and Manuel Stärk from Immendingen, generally praised the event as a whole and the organization. Everyone had put a lot of effort into it. Mayor Martin Numberger and the main organizer Andreas Heidel were very satisfied with the attendance and the way it went.

The final result
