MBI investigates shooting involving JPD officer

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) announced it has begun investigating a shooting involving a Jackson Police Department officer on Sunday.

According to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, JPD officers responded to a call near Jamestown Way.

When an officer arrived, he was approaching the scene when a suspect attempted to hit the officer with his vehicle.

The officer then fired his weapon and hit the suspect.

The suspect did not suffer life-threatening injuries. The officer involved also did not suffer any serious physical injuries.

According to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, the MBI is currently gathering evidence and conducting an investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the results will be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office.
