SC DHfK starts the season with a win against Stuttgart

Leipzig. It was a muggy affair in the Arena Leipzig. On the last hot summer day of 2024, the handball players of SC DHfK Leipzig started the new Bundesliga season. The green-whites only had serious problems with their opening opponent TVB Stuttgart at the beginning. Shortly before the break, the Saxons pulled ahead to 15:12, and in the first few minutes after the break, Runar Sigtrygsson’s team forced the preliminary decision with a 5:0 run at 20:12. In the end, the score was 33:24 in front of 3,692 spectators.

Leipzig were never behind, got off to a better start with a 4:1 lead, but initially felt the Swabians on their toes for 25 minutes. Goalkeeper Kristian Saeveras was an important player in the Green-Whites’ game. The Norwegian was substituted during the first half, had a much better day than Domenico Ebner and was the necessary support for last year’s eighth-place team in the Handball Bundesliga, for whom the Czech Matej Klima scored the most goals with seven.
