First new music in 16 years

It’s the week of comebacks! It’s been a long time since Pinhead gunpowder. The punk band around Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and touring guitarist Jason White and drummer Aaron Cometbus and bassist Bill Schneider announces her first longplayer since the release of her EP “West Side Highway” from the year 2008 (!).

“Under” will be the name of the quartet’s new studio album and I am October 18, 2024 above 1-2-3-4 Go! appear. This way you present us Pinhead gunpowder Not only the first new sounds in 16 years, but also the second full-fledged studio album (apart from a few compilation records). “Under” will be her debut LP “Goodbye, Ellston Avenue” from 1997 – what news!

drummer Aaron reminisces, but makes it clear that the band’s future – despite the break – was always clear:

“Pinhead gunpowder Started writing songs in 1990 and recorded his first seven-inch records the following spring.

Since then we have met almost every year to play. In many years we have produced – five albums and eleven EPs – and in many years we have played concerts.

But since 2010 we’ve been playing just for ourselves, something bands forget. Instead of ‘writing for the new album’ or rehearsing to get ready to tour, we’d go back to the basement every year. We live in the house we built and remember how we made the music for each other in the first place. We play all over the world – at least in Oakland, Singapore and New York – but only for each other. We also worked on re-releasing our old catalog and felt more connected and related than ever.

A new album and tour was only a matter of time, but between the band’s other projects and the members’ families, it was hard to find. When we finally did it, we were all surprised. We think it’s our best album yet – our catchiest, most collaborative and most moving.”
