Failed NYC Zara robbery leaves one injured as shoppers run for cover

A botched robbery at the Zara clothing store in Soho left a security guard injured and customers running for cover, witnesses said.

Police were working Saturday to clear up the chaos that broke out at 503 Broadway shortly after 3 p.m., authorities said.

When police responded to reports of shots fired inside the store, they encountered a man – believed to be a store security guard – who had been “hit on the head with a bottle,” a New York Police Department spokesman said.

“It is still somewhat unclear at the moment” what exactly happened, the spokesman said.

“Zara in Soho just had a shooting spree and literally everyone was running. Scariest thing I’ve ever seen,” Jasmine C. Green posted on X.

“Tell me why there are over 20 cops across the street all running out of Zara in fear,” posted a woman with the username @itslaurlmao, who claims to be from Toronto but shared photos from Times Square on Friday night.

A bystander said the store’s security guard was hit in the head with a bottle and two suspects sped away in a silver car.
