Middle Franconia: School starts in Bavaria – The Middle Franconia Police Headquarters reminds people of the dangers of the way to school and announces control measures

After the long summer holidays, the start of the new school year is just around the corner. From Tuesday (September 10, 2024), the serious business of life begins for many schoolchildren in Middle Franconia. With a particular focus on the many new schoolchildren, the Middle Franconia Police Headquarters points out that safety on the way to school is particularly important for the youngest among us and accompanies the start of school with appropriate priority checks and action days.

From the first day of school, the Central Franconian police departments and the Municipal Traffic Monitoring Association in the greater Nuremberg area will carry out targeted checks to increase safety on the way to school, in order to sensitize motorized road users in particular to the dangers of the way to school and to remind them of the need to behave as carefully as possible when dealing with ABC shooters. For the officers deployed, the focus of the school route monitoring will be on illegal stopping and parking in front of schools and along school routes, as well as compliance with the speed limits applicable there. However, the police will also focus on the proper securing of children in the vehicles and specifically check both the obligation to wear seat belts and the use of necessary child seats. In order to minimize the risks on the way to school as much as possible, especially for school beginners, the Central Franconia Police Headquarters requests that

– drive particularly carefully at schools and always observe the applicable speed limits, – slow down and be ready to brake when children are in sight, – drive at walking speed in traffic-calmed areas, – do not park at junctions, intersections, on footpaths and cycle paths or in other places where it is not permitted, – do not double park in front of schools and observe no-stopping signs, – at bus and tram stops always expect children to suddenly run onto the road, – do not let children get on or off in areas where no-stopping is permitted, – observe the seat belt requirement and secure children with the necessary restraint systems and – do not set off “at the last minute” in the morning – because stress and rushing around in particular make you inattentive.
