Fish deaths in Westparksee, operation since Friday, 07.09.2024, 13:00

The Munich fire brigade has been working at Westparksee since Friday afternoon. Fish had died there due to a lack of oxygen in the water. At the same time, up to 60 emergency personnel with 20 vehicles were on site. Due to the length of the operation, the staff were regularly replaced and fed. Up to 12,000 litres of water per minute were pumped out of the lake and sprayed back onto the water surface using water cannons. Some of the water was also pumped out of the lake and refilled with fresh water. The measures are having an effect and the oxygen content in the lake has been increased. The expected change in the weather this afternoon and the associated drop in temperatures are expected to ease the situation further. The operation is not yet over and is ongoing.
