Heavy police presence near the Baylor campus was part of an operation that led to the arrest of a wanted suspect

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – On September 3, special agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Brandon Fritze, 36, of Waco, for a parole violation near the Baylor University campus.

The arrest occurred around 5:50 p.m. at a residence on 9th Street near Speight Avenue.

DPS was assisted by the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, Waco Police Department and Baylor University Police Department.

According to court records, Fritze was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2006 and sentenced to six years in prison in McLennan County.

In 2008, he was convicted of harassing a person in a Fannin County correctional facility.

In 2019, he was convicted as a habitual offender and sentenced to 30 years in prison for two counts of bail jumping and failure to appear in court.

He also faces charges of possession of a controlled substance more than 200 grams but less than 400 grams and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Fritze is being held without bail in the McLennan County Jail.
