A little later, Carter shared a screenshot in his story of messages he had received in which the 23-year-old was bombarded with insults, racist abuse and even death threats.

“I hope you die,” wrote one user.

The Eagles star, meanwhile, let the unpleasant situation speak for itself and simply clarified: “It was a football play. I wish Jordan a speedy recovery.”

At the first guest appearance of the US elite league in Brazil, Carter could hardly be happy about the opening victory, the Eagles won the chaotic duel 34:29.

Running back Saquon Barkley (27) became the man of the day with three touchdowns in the Corinthians Arena, which, however, with its adverse field conditions, caused some slip-ups and several shoe changes on both sides.
