Hesse: Korbach: Two men seriously injured after light aircraft crash

Shortly after takeoff, a light aircraft crashed in northern Hesse. The two passengers were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The single-engine Piper did not gain enough altitude in the morning and then crashed near the Korbach (Waldeck-Frankenberg) airfield, police in Kassel announced on Saturday. It is not yet clear why the takeoff failed. The plane was not even 500 meters from the ground, according to a spokesman.

The two passengers, two men, were taken to hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, it was said. The Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation has begun investigations.
