Bihar man arrested in Uttarakhand with Rs 200,000 bounty on his head – The Week

Patna, Sept 7 (PTI) – A man accused in several criminal cases and with a bounty of Rs 200,000 on his head was arrested in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand on Saturday, police said here.
He was arrested during a joint operation by the Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar Police and Uttarakhand Police.
He will be taken to Patna in custody, a police statement released here said.
Twenty-seven cases have been registered against the arrested man, identified as Ranjit Choudhary, at several police stations in Patna, Bhojpur and East Singhbhum in Jharkhand, it said.
According to a statement from the local police headquarters, the accused, a resident of Udwant Nagar in Bhojpur district of Bihar, was involved in crimes including murder, extortion, illegal sand mining and assault on police officials.
The STF also arrested another criminal from Darbhanga district of Bihar, Azad Thakur, who had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head and was wanted in several extortion cases.
According to another police statement, the STF arrested Thakur in a joint operation with Darbhanga police on Friday evening.
