RTL: Now it’s out! Sender announces the happy news

After the football season, the NFL has now started its new season – to the delight of RTL and the many football fans. The broadcaster and viewers had to wait a long time until things finally started again.

And right from the start, RTL is making a big splash on free TV! The Cologne-based broadcaster is announcing mega news and hopes that it will continue to be so successful.

RTL: Mega start for the channel!

“It can continue like this,” RTL will think. The TV station started the NFL season with the opener on Thursday night between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. With strong market shares of 15 percent in the target group of 14 to 59 year olds and 25 percent among 14 to 49 year olds, there was reason to celebrate.

The furious start to the second season as the exclusive free-TV partner of the US league even exceeded the figures of the past three years in both target groups. An average of up to 210,000 fans watched Kansas’ spectacular last-minute victory – even though the game started late at night and lasted until the early hours of the morning. Overall, the live broadcast achieved a strong market share of 10.2 percent of the total audience.

NFL at prime time

The TV station is hoping for further top ratings in the future. After the season opener, Sunday evening is now the NFL’s prime time. With the Minnesota Vikings against the New York Giants at 7 p.m. and the Washington Commanders against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 10:25 p.m., the NFL regular season returns to RTL prime time on September 8 with the first match day.

In addition, RTL+ will be broadcasting previews of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ game against the Atlanta Falcons, which begins at 7 p.m., at 6:40 p.m. You can read about the remaining matches that will be broadcast on TV here.
