Briton Jack Draper vomits in the semi-final

Jack Draper lost the first two sets against Jannik Sinner. In the second set, the Briton was not doing well at all.

Briton Jack Draper vomited on the court several times in his semi-final against world number one Jannik Sinner from Italy at the US Open. The 22-year-old was obviously not feeling well in the second set and cleaned the court with a towel afterwards.

In humid conditions, Draper tried to cool himself down when changing sides by putting ice towels around his neck and thighs and using colder air from a hose. The world number 25 entered the semifinals of the Grand Slam tournament in New York as a big underdog – and ultimately had to admit defeat to Sinner. The Italian tennis number one won 7:5, 7:6 (7:3), 6:2.

Sinner also had problems in the meantime. When running back at 4:4 in the second set, he fell on his left wrist and had to be treated on the bench like Draper. This loosened up his wrist, Sinner said later. “We’ll have to see how it is tomorrow when it’s colder. It will be different. Hopefully there’s nothing I have to worry about.”
