Julian Glanzer takes third place in Klosters

From August 17th to 24th, the ATA Trophy took place in Klosters, Switzerland, as part of the European Junior Tour. Julian Glanzer reached third place and was once again able to achieve a good placing at an international tournament.

In his first match he won against a qualifier with 6:0 6:4 and was able to get used to the unusual conditions at an altitude of 1500 m.

In the second match he faced Linus Zürcher from Switzerland. In a close match and after losing the first set, Glanzer was able to reduce his mistakes and finally win the match in three sets with 3:6, 6:1, 6:3.

In the quarterfinals he again met a Swiss, the third seed Noel Kim Bachmann. Here too it was a close match on equal terms. Glanzer played the entire match courageously and showed mental strength, ultimately winning 6:3 4:6 6:3 and moving into the semifinals.

In the semifinals he met the Italian Eduardo Ghiselli, who had won all of his matches up to that point in 2 sets. This was also a very close match with many games going beyond deuce and changing leads. Both played with great force and courage, and in the end Ghiselli won 6:4 7:5 and Glanzer came third. This meant he followed on from his tournament victory in July with a successful international tournament. Thanks to a good season so far, the 14-year-old Glanzer managed to jump far up the German rankings.
