Participation in the open beta phase

Xbox players can download the beta for free directly from the Xbox Store. Battle.net users must install the Call of Duty HQ app and select and download the beta there.

For Steam players, the process is apparently a bit more complicated. According to YouTuber SuchSirAxolotl Studios, you can find the installation option in the game settings of Call of Duty HQ under the “DLC” section. You will also need an Activision account that you have linked to your Steam account.

New maps and game modes

During the Early Access phase, six different maps and game modes were available. For the open beta, the selection has now been expanded to include the maps “Babylon” and “Stakeout” as well as the game modes “Gunfight” and “Face Off Kill Order”.

Changes to weapons

In addition, Treyarch announced in a post on X (Twitter) that there are changes to the “weapon balancing”, i.e. the strength of the respective weapons. Among other things, this affects the Jackal PDW, which has apparently been the most popular weapon during the beta phase so far.

Treyarch has revealed specific details about the changes in a new blog post. Among other things, it shows that the weapon’s maximum damage has been reduced from 29 to 26.

A possible replacement for the Jackal PDW could be the brand new Tanto .22, which a leaker previously found in the game’s files. However, you only unlock this submachine gun at level 30.

Black Ops 6 will be officially available for various platforms from October 25th. There is also a way you can play the new shooter for just one euro.
