“Contrary to traditional assumptions, no knives were used in the altercation on Thursday afternoon,” a spokeswoman for the German Press Agency said on Friday.

Furthermore, the argument did not break out between three people and a couple, but between three bathers and two security staff aged 38 and 42.

The staff issued a police notice asking the male bathers aged 24, 25 and 33 to leave the outdoor pool because of “excessively loud behaviour” and issued a ban on entry.

The men did not comply with the request, which is why access to the pool was temporarily closed. According to the spokeswoman, the incident occurred near the cash desk area.

The 24-year-old then allegedly threw a glass bottle in the direction of the security staff, but it shattered on a fence. A 26-year-old cashier was injured.

Subsequently, a fight broke out between the three bathers and the security staff. The 33-year-old was injured.

The 25-year-old and the 33-year-old then fled to the back of the pool, while the 24-year-old fled to Columbiadamm, but was caught. The three bathers were temporarily arrested. The injured were taken to hospital.

According to the statement, the three bathers involved went to the police in the evening and reported that they had been beaten and robbed by several members of the security staff.
