Central Ohio High School Football Team Results, OHSAA Week 3 Updates

Central Ohio High School Football Team Results, OHSAA Week 3 Updates

Week 3 of the 2024 Ohio high school football season has begun and we’re featuring rematches of two games we covered last year.

Dave Purpura will be in Pickerington as Central hosts North in a battle for the township’s showcase rights. North won 39-34 last year.

Frank DiRenna will be in Powell as undefeated Olentangy Liberty hosts Gahanna Lincoln. Gahanna won its final game of the season 46-28.

Week 3 began Thursday night with three Central Ohio teams – all from the City League – in action. East beat Toledo Scott 32-0, West defeated Millersport 47-12 and South fell to Dayton Belmont 18-17.

The Battle of Pickerington pits two teams that scored a lot of points in Week 2 against each other. Central defeated Huber Heights Wayne 45-40 and North beat Grandville (Michigan) 53-51 on a 32-yard field goal by Brandon Fowler as time expired.

A year after Liberty lost its first four games to finish 4-8, the team can move to 3-0 with a win over Gahanna. The Patriots haven’t started 3-0 since 2019, when they won their first eight games in a 10-2 season.

Heading into Friday’s game, 23 Central Ohio teams are undefeated, including Watterson, which has yet to concede a point this season. The Eagles will face Westerville North at Ohio Dominican.
