Start for Gemein-Statt in Großalmerode

On Sunday the Gemein-Statt in Großalmerode will be opened.

Großalmerode – After countless construction and fire safety problems over the past two years, which have postponed the planned opening of the Gemein-Statt in Großalmerode, the time has come this Sunday. “The worst thing was the construction phase, which took so long,” says Tanja Noll, first chairwoman of the Gemein-Statt association, which was founded at the end of 2022. Now the members can really get started.

All Großalmeröder residents are invited to come to the premises on Sunday from 11 a.m. to see what has been created in the 100 square meters that are located on part of the former Rewe market. Food and drink will be provided until 4 p.m. and the “Young Marching Band” from the Valentin Traudt School will play for the visitors. “From Almeröder for Almeröder” is the aim of the association, which wants to be perceived in the long term as an institution that should contribute to cohesion in the city.

For example, the plan is to donate clothes every Thursday afternoon and cook lunch every Wednesday for children and young people, which is to start after the autumn holidays. A cell phone workshop by Joao Azevedo will also be offered in the community soon. The times and offerings may change depending on demand.

“We want to get as many people from Großalmerode on board as possible,” says Tanja Noll. The association hopes that as many citizens of the town as possible will visit the community center. New members and helpers who would like to support the offers are very welcome.

A food bank is also planned in the long term, but the association is still looking for material donors for the refrigerators that are still missing. One of the generous supporters is Uwe Barchfeld, who has covered most of the costs incurred for the renovations and is making the rooms available to Gemein-Statt free of charge for rent.
