Number 1 Sinner fights against surprise man Draper for the final

World number one Jannik Sinner from South Tyrol and Briton Jack Draper described each other as “pretty good friends” at their respective press conferences before their semi-final encounter at the US Open. Even though the 23-year-old Sinner has impressed with only two sets lost so far in the tournament, the five matches without losing a set by Draper, who is one year younger, seem like a real challenge.

Sinner should be cautious about today’s semi-final match, and not just because of Draper’s currently impressive form. The left-hander from the island won their only encounter on the tour so far in 2021 at London’s Queen’s Club in two tiebreak sets.
