What we can expect from the Apple Watch Ultra 3

What we can expect from the Apple Watch Ultra 3

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will likely be announced at the keynote next Monday alongside the iPhone 16.

Compared to the previous model, they are likely to have fewer innovations.

Display and design

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 could have a low-energy OLED panel, which would reduce the power consumption of the always-on display. Apple put plans to use a MicroLED display on hold for the time being because the project was canceled this year.

The design of the new rugged smartwatch will have little change, as Bloomberg writer Mark Gurman wrote that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will have roughly the same look as the original.

New features, hardware and colors

The new features of the third generation Apple Watch Ultra are said to include improved health monitoring, blood pressure measurement and sleep apnea detection.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is unlikely to have any new hardware upgrades, reported reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The blood pressure measurement and sleep apnea detection functions are said to be machine learning and software-based.

The CPU in the watch will be a successor to the S9 chip, which could lay the foundation for a number of AI improvements. As for the color selection, Kuo says there will be a new dark or black case color if production yields meet expectations.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will run watchOS 11 as its operating system, with updates and improvements such as additional Smart Stack widgets, check-in for messages and workouts, a Vitals app, translation app or the new Apple Pay feature Tap to Cash.
