The Southeastern Conference already doesn’t support Texas as the conference’s UT.

The Austin American-Statesman’s sister paper, the Tennessean, also says there is “no question” about which university is the “real UT.” Sure.

But how about asking an unbiased source? The almighty Google search.

The Statesman’s investigation used a VPN to encrypt the location and eliminate bias, and just to be safe, connected three different cities: Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.

Every time? The University of Texas at Austin was the first university to appear on the results page. In fact, the University of Tampa was the second result to appear, before the University of Tennessee.

How about worldwide results? You can probably guess. Connection to Albania? University of Texas at Austin. Australia? University of Texas at Austin. India? UT. The volunteers didn’t show up in any of these searches. The University of Toronto showed up before Tennessee.

This is not an opinion. Tennessee fans can complain about seniority; the Longhorns are newcomers to the SEC and don’t have the history that Knoxville has. The internet doesn’t lie (usually).
