Police arrest doctor who fled after woman died during buttock augmentation procedure | General Entertainment

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Dr. Idara Bassey, who was wanted in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman during a buttock augmentation procedure at a clinic in the Lekki Phase 1 area.

On Tuesday last week, the nurse who administered an injection to the late Abiola – allegedly on the instructions of Dr Bassey – was arrested after the Moroccan police received a report from Abiola’s driver at around 11:40 am.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the command, confirmed to Punch on September 3 that Dr Bassey is currently under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti.

Bassey had previously fled after Abiola died during a buttock augmentation procedure at her clinic on August 26, 2024.

Abiola had left her home in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, in the Ibeju Lekki area and instructed her driver to take her to the clinic for the procedure.

After the nurse administered the injection – allegedly following Bassey’s instructions – the driver reported to police that Abiola lost consciousness and was gasping for air.

Regarding possible charges against Bassey and their justification, Hundeyin stated that answers would be given “after the investigation is completed.”
