The Kansas City Chiefs started the new NFL season with a win. In a repeat of last year’s AFC Championship Game, the Super Bowl champions beat the Baltimore Ravens 27:20. In the end, however, it was a close call.

The NFL is back – and brought with it a lot of drama right from the start. A party that was delayed by 20 minutes due to a heavy thunderstorm was almost turned around by the Ravens in the final seconds against the champions. After a pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson, tight end Isaiah Likely caught the football in the end zone as the clock ran out. The referee signaled a touchdown, and Baltimore’s head coach John Harbaugh indicated on the sidelines that he wanted to go for the two-point conversion and the possible victory.

But that didn’t happen. Because Likely’s toe landed just outside the game, the play didn’t count and the Chiefs left the field as winners with a score of 27:20. Unlike the previous season, when they had messed up their start with a 20:21 loss against the Detroit Lions in front of their home crowd.
