Top start for Nicolai von Dellingshausen

Top start for Nicolai von Dellingshausen

German golf stars are well represented in our neighboring country, Switzerland. Eleven well-known faces of German golf are trying to assert themselves on the DP World Tour at Crans-sur-Sierre GC in Crans Montana. Two of them stand out with their start: Nicolai von Dellingshausen plays a 65 and is T7 after 18 holes. Jannik de Bruyn only needed one more stroke and ended up T14.

The Spaniard Alfredo Garcia-Heredia and Alex Fitzpatrick share the lead with 7 under par. The duo at the top are under pressure from four players in joint third place. Alex Fitzpatrick’s brother Matt, PGA Tour star and winner in 2017 and 2018, finds himself in T14 at the start in Switzerland.

Nicolai von Dellingshausen with a promising start on the DP World Tour

After just six holes, Nicolai von Dellingshausen was four strokes under par on the par-70 course: he started the round with two birdies and an eagle. Shortly before the turn, the 31-year-old fell behind due to two strokes lost, but fought his way back on the back nine. With four more birdies, he was on course for the top position, but conceded a bogey on his 17th hole. With five strokes under par for the day, he is two strokes behind the leaders.

The second best German on the first day of the tournament was Jannik de Bruyn. He remained error-free until shortly before the end and played five birdies. On the last hole he made a mistake on the tee, so he had to free himself from the thick rough and recorded his first bogey here. The third German player with a score under par was Matti Schmid. With two strokes under par he ranks T38.

The other German players are in the second half of the leaderboard. Marcel Siem played even par (T74), as did Max Kieffer, who was significantly set back by a triple bogey on hole 18. Freddy Schott and Yannik Paul (+2) are in 112th place. Hurly Long (T128), Alexander Knappe and Marcel Schneider (T144) and Max Rottluff (T153) also need to improve significantly to have a chance of making it to the weekend.
