News of Georgia school massacre meets conspiracy for 2024 elections

Some right-wingers developed a new conspiracy theory to dismiss the news that two students and two teachers were killed in a shooting at a Georgia high school on Wednesday morning.

Another nine people were hospitalized following the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. Authorities confirmed that a 14-year-old suspect was taken into custody.

Skeptics, however, suspect that the tragedy is some kind of election-year conspiracy by Democrats aimed at strengthening Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Note that whenever the Democrats need a narrative change, there’s a convenient school shooting in a swing state they control,” wrote one X user. “They’re desperately trying to emotionally influence the masses and get them to support this communist instead of Trump.”

“They will likely resort to fraud, violence or evil to achieve their goals,” the report continues. “It couldn’t be more obvious. These people are pure evil.”

Another user agreed: “Kamala will forcefully push her gun control agenda, this is no accident. These people are EVIL through and through. It’s time to exorcise these demons.”

“School massacre in a swing state just before a presidential election? Imagine my shock,” one person wrote.

Some right-wingers pointed out that the shooting took place less than a week before the scheduled first face-off between Harris and Trump.

“Harris can now rant and rave on the debate stage about a school shooting that just happened in a swing state,” said conservative influencer Joey Mannarino. “How lucky for her campaign. That’s all I’m saying. That’s all.”

“A school shooting right before the presidential debates next week so the conversation can move from economic policy to gun control?” mused another influencer.

Adding to the skepticism is the FBI’s confirmation in Atlanta that the suspect was identified last May because he posted a school shooting threat and pictures of guns. The FBI said it interviewed the 13-year-old and he denied making the threat. His father had locked away his guns, it said.

This only reinforced the theory that Harris and the Democrats were behind it.

“The FBI knew this person, but that probably wasn’t as important as helping to do underhanded shit in the election this year,” one concluded.

“I always suspect the FBI or CIA in any mass shooting, especially when the shooting occurs in a hotly contested swing state just before an election,” another similarly concluded.
