Does Sony have an exclusive deal for PS5 and PS5 Pro?

Sony has reportedly secured the advertising rights for GTA 6. If that’s true, things don’t look good for Microsoft.

Hamburg – Rumors are circulating that Sony has secured exclusive marketing rights for Rockstar’s hotly anticipated GTA 6 on the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro consoles. According to recent reports, Sony will announce when the GTA 6 trailer is released that the marketing campaign will only target their consoles. This would mean that Xbox will be left out in terms of advertising presence.

GTA 6 will only be played on PS5 and PS5 Pro

Exclusive deal: Sony seems to be acting strategically, as the PlayStation 5 is already eclipsing the Xbox in sales. With the upcoming release of the more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro, expected to launch in 2025, it would only make sense for Sony to associate one of the biggest entertainment releases of all time with their brand.

Xbox sticks to this: The podcast “XNC” takes up the topic, with guest “MAGG” explaining that this only means that Sony owns the advertising rights. The Xbox version of GTA 6 will of course still be released. The difference is that Xbox will not have any market presence through marketing.

Gaming at the highest level: The decision to market GTA 6 as a flagship product of the PS5 and PS5 Pro is a clever move by Sony. With the PS5 Pro likely running in 4K at 60FPS or possibly even 8K at 30FPS, GTA 6 could offer the ultimate gaming experience. According to “TheTweakdown”, the release of the PC version could also be a while off.

No change: The cost of these exclusive marketing rights may have cost Sony a lot, but the impact this agreement will have on PS5 and PS5 Pro sales could more than justify the price. The move could push the consoles even further to the top of the market while Xbox continues to be overshadowed.
