Baldur’s Gate 3 releases the later patch 7

Baldur’s Gate 3 releases the later patch 7

With Patch 7, Baldur’s Gate 3 is more or less “complete”. The patch brings tons of new content and, most importantly, official mod support, which thousands of fans are eagerly waiting for. However, the changes are so extensive that your hard drive space may not be sufficient for the installation.

How big is Patch 7?

  • Patch 7 is supposed to be the big farewell to Baldur’s Gate 3 and this is also reflected in the installation size.
  • According to the developers, the download is only 11.6 GB on the PC. However, you will need a whopping 160 GB of free storage space to install it. Mac, PlayStation and Xbox will receive the patch later.
  • According to the information post on Steam, the developers recommend re-downloading the game if you don’t have enough storage space. That’s easier. The patch is available now (September 5th at 3:45 p.m.).

By the way: Until Patch 7 is released on other platforms, multiplayer between PC and Mac will not be possible. Loading cross-saves will also be suspended during this time.

This is what’s in Patch 7: The two most important new features in Patch 7 are the promised mod support and the new evil endings. Both are features that players have been looking forward to for months.

The official mod support comes directly with an in-house modding toolkit and is intended to make it easier to create and install mods. Third-party mods are still possible, but are not officially supported. The developers recommend a fresh installation after the patch.

The evil endings are aimed primarily at players who want to fight their way through the game with the Dark Desire. Among other things, there are new and longer cinematics for the conclusion and there is a new interaction with a conscientious bard.

There are also a ton of bug fixes and smaller new features. For example, it is now possible to lead an army of fish people into the final battle if you became their god in Act 1.

The legendary actions in Honor mode have been reworked and new ones have been added – you can also now set the honor rules including legendary actions in the custom game. You can find the full patch notes in English on Steam.

What’s next for Baldur’s Gate 3?

Larian boss Swen Vincke has already explained that the development of Baldur’s Gate 3 is slowly coming to an end with Patch 7. The post says that a few more patches are planned, but you probably shouldn’t expect any more extensive new features.

Crossplay, a photo mode, bug fixes and smaller updates are finally planned. However, the team wants to slowly “hang up the armor and return to the cave” to turn its attention to new projects.

In the past, Larian has already revealed that the studio is working on two new games. One of them is already “ready for takeoff,” but concrete information about the projects is still lacking.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is probably finished and finally “complete” after patch 7. But you will probably still find enough content for a few hundred (more) hours – and at least a new, evil playthrough is now worthwhile, even if you’ve already had one. But if you’re looking for variety, there is a neat dystopian role-playing game as an alternative: A role-playing game for Warhammer 40k is the best game at gamescom 2024
