Unterföhring, September 5, 2024 – Gripping German political thriller with a top-class cast: The high-end thriller series “Turmschatten” ( will be shown exclusively on Sky and WOW from November 15th.

Based on the best-seller of the same name by Peter Grandl, who also wrote the screenplay together with Christian Limmer, “Turmschatten” was produced by The Amazing Film Company together with Paramount Television International Studios.

Thomas Peter Friedl (including “The Bedfellow”, “The Fourth Power”, “Rate Your Date”) is the producer, and Hannu Salonen (“Oktoberfest 1900”, “Arctic Circle”, “Guilt”) is directing all six episodes. Felix Cramer is in charge of the cinematography, Christian Kettler is in charge of the set design, Bettina C. Proske is in charge of the costume design and Franziska Aigner is in charge of the casting. The lead producer is Manu S. Scheidt.

The roles are played by Heiner Lauterbach, Klaus Steinbacher, Désirée Nosbusch, Milena Tscharntke, Anja Herden, Murathan Muslu, Paul Wollin and Michael Roll. Other well-known cast members include Deleila Piasko, Sina Reiß, Anton Spieker, Samuel Koch, Elena Carriére and, as a guest, Ilja Richter.

“We are thrilled that ‘Turmschatten’ is premiering on Sky Deutschland. With ‘Babylon Berlin’, ‘Das Boot’ and ‘Der Pass’, the great Sky team has set milestones for German-language high-end series that are second to none. “We felt very at home from the very first second,” says producer Thomas Peter Friedl.

“With ‘Turmschatten’,” says Christian Asanger, VP Entertainment at Sky Deutschland, “we have acquired a German production in exclusive premiere that has everything we expect from a series: an exciting story based on a successful novel, a first-class cast and, last but not least, a socially highly relevant topic that unfortunately couldn’t be more topical.”

The series was funded by the German Motion Picture Fund and the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. The novel “Turmschatten” and the sequel “Turmgold” were published by Piper-Verlag. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

About “Tower Shadow”:

After the adopted daughter of Holocaust survivor Ephraim Zamir falls victim to a brutal attack by neo-Nazis, Zamir takes action. He arrests the two perpetrators and holds them captive. Zamir calls on a rapidly growing online community to vote on the life and death of the alleged perpetrators. Within a very short time, the hostage-taking location, a medieval-looking defensive tower, becomes the scene of several confrontations between hostage-takers, right-wing radical hostages, demonstrators, a gigantic police presence and sensationalist media. The unstoppable online stream of his interrogations of the hostages develops into a huge media spectacle. While the quotations for “death” continue to grow, the police are running out of time.
